Maurice Denis captures a sailing regatta at Perros-Guirec in Brittany, where he spent many summers. The coastal scene shows boats with colorful sails against the Breton shoreline, rendered in Denis's characteristic decorative style.
Denis was a founding member of the Nabis, a group of Post-Impressionist painters who emphasized flat patterns and symbolic color. He famously declared that a painting is "essentially a flat surface covered with colors assembled in a certain order." His Brittany scenes combine observation with decorative simplification.
Luxury wall art with the same mood and energy. Gallery-quality canvas, no museum crowds.
