Ancient Greek These sculptures are fragments from the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built around 350 BCE for Mausolus, ruler of Caria, the massive tomb gave us the word "mausoleum." The surviving sculptures are displayed at the British Museum.
The collection includes portions of the Amazonomachy frieze (battle between Greeks and Amazons), colossal statues thought to represent Mausolus and his wife Artemisia, and architectural fragments. Four famous Greek sculptors, including Scopas and Leochares, worked on the monument. These works represent some of the finest surviving examples of 4th-century BCE Greek sculpture.
Luxury wall art with the same mood and energy. Gallery-quality canvas, no museum crowds.
