Neo-Assyrian art (911-609 BCE) was created during the last great phase of the Assyrian Empire in ancient Mesopotamia. The Neo-Assyrians produced monumental stone reliefs, colossal guardian figures (lamassu), and small bronzes that decorated vast palace complexes at Nimrud, Khorsabad, and Nineveh. Their narrative battle reliefs and lion hunt scenes are among the most powerful works of ancient art.
