The Aivazovsky National Art Gallery in Feodosiya, Crimea, was founded in 1880 by Ivan Aivazovsky himself, who built a gallery attached to his home to display his seascape paintings. It was the first art gallery in a small Ukrainian town, a testament to Aivazovsky's attachment to his birthplace.
The collection holds 417 works by Aivazovsky, the largest concentration of his paintings in the world. His dramatic depictions of storms, naval battles, and moonlit seas made him one of the most popular marine painters of the 19th century. The gallery also preserves personal objects and documents from the artist's life in Feodosiya.
