Ca' Rezzonico is an 18th-century palazzo on Venice's Grand Canal that opened as the Museum of 18th-Century Venice in 1936, a year after the city purchased the building. The palace was designed by Baldassare Longhena in 1649, though construction dragged on for decades and was finally completed by Giorgio Massari in 1756.
The interior recreates aristocratic Venetian life through period furniture, frescoes, and paintings. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Francesco Guardi, and Canaletto are well represented. The Martini and Mestrovich donations added over 300 works. Robert Browning died here in 1889, when the palazzo was privately owned.
