The Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Angers occupies the 15th-century Logis Barrault in the heart of Angers. Established in 1796, the museum holds French, Flemish, Dutch, and Italian paintings from the 14th through 21st centuries.
The medieval and Renaissance holdings include works by Botticelli and Jordaens. The museum is perhaps best visited in conjunction with the nearby Château d'Angers, which houses the Apocalypse Tapestry (1377-1382), the world's longest medieval tapestry at over 100 meters, though this is a separate site. The museum's collection of 18th-century French painting is particularly strong.
