The Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli occupies a glass-walled gallery designed by Renzo Piano atop the former Fiat Lingotto factory in Turin. Opened in 2002, it displays 25 masterworks from the private collection of Fiat chairman Giovanni Agnelli and his wife Marella.
The small but exquisite collection includes paintings by Canaletto, Tiepolo, Matisse, Picasso, and Renoir. Renzo Piano's "flying carpet" gallery, perched on the rooftop test track where Fiat once drove cars, is as much an attraction as the art. The Lingotto complex, converted by Piano in the 1980s, also includes a conference center, hotel, and shopping mall.
