Landscape art brings the outdoors in. Mountains, valleys, coastlines, forests, fields. These pieces capture places that inspire calm, wonder, or wanderlust. A good landscape painting can change the feeling of a room... read more
Landscape paintings have centuries of tradition behind them. From Dutch masters to American impressionists to contemporary artists, the natural world remains endlessly compelling as subject matter.
Views without leaving
Landscape wall art works because it references places we've been or want to visit. A mountain scene might recall a hike. A beach landscape might suggest vacation peace. The associations add personal meaning.
Scenic art fits living rooms, bedrooms, offices, and anywhere you want to create visual space. Landscapes open up walls, adding depth and drawing the eye outward rather than stopping at the room's boundaries.

Open, spacious scenes work best. Wide landscape paintings with distant horizons or rolling hills give your eye a place to rest between screen time. Avoid anything too busy or chaotic. Soft color palettes (greens, blues, warm golds) keep the energy calm without putting you to sleep. Our Mountain Art collection has some great options for this.
Pull one dominant color from your room and find landscape wall art where that color appears naturally. Got a navy sofa? Look for twilight or ocean-horizon landscapes. Warm-toned furniture? Sunset landscapes are a no-brainer. Don't try to match everything exactly though. One or two shared tones is enough. Check our Sunset Paintings for warm palettes.
Horizontal is the classic choice for landscape art since it mimics how we actually see wide-open scenery. It works best above sofas, beds, and dining tables. Vertical landscapes (tall forests, waterfalls, narrow valleys) suit narrower walls, hallways, and spaces between windows. The wall shape should guide your decision more than any hard rule.
Aim for a piece that covers about two-thirds the width of your couch. So if your sofa is 84 inches wide, a 48-to-60 inch landscape canvas hits the sweet spot. Hang it 6 to 8 inches above the back cushions. Going too small is the most common mistake. A tiny print over a big couch looks like an afterthought. Our Large Wall Art section can help.
They're one of the most consistently popular categories in wall art. Landscape paintings have never really gone out of style because nature doesn't go out of style. What changes is the treatment. Right now, moody atmospherics and abstract-leaning scenic art are trending over traditional photorealistic scenes. Our Nature Art collection reflects that shift.
