Ancient Roman The Capitoline Venus is a Roman marble copy of a Greek original from around the 2nd century BCE. She stands in the Venus Pudica pose, covering herself modestly after emerging from a bath. The sculpture is 193 cm tall and has been at the Capitoline Museums in Rome since 1752.
Pope Benedict XIV bought it from the Stazi collection to prevent it from leaving Rome. She has her own dedicated room (the Gabinetto della Venere) in the Palazzo Nuovo. The figure is one of several Roman copies of a lost Hellenistic original, along with the Medici Venus.
Luxury wall art with the same mood and energy. Gallery-quality canvas, no museum crowds.
