Agathon Léonard (1841-1923) was a French sculptor whose Jeu de l'Écharpe (Scarf Dance) series became one of the most iconic Art Nouveau sculptural groups. Originally designed as a centerpiece for the Sèvres porcelain display at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, the series depicts dancers in flowing robes.
The figures were produced in biscuit porcelain, gilt bronze, and other materials, becoming wildly popular. They capture the fluid movement and natural forms central to Art Nouveau aesthetics.
