Alexander Munro (1825-1871) was a Scottish sculptor who was closely associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Born in Inverness, he studied at the Royal Academy and became friends with Dante Gabriel Rossetti and other Pre-Raphaelites. His sculptures share their circle's attention to naturalistic detail and medieval-inspired subjects.
Munro's Paolo and Francesca marble group and his portrait medallions of the Pre-Raphaelite circle are his best-known works.
