Annibale Fontana (1540-1587) was a Milanese sculptor, goldsmith, and gem cutter who produced exquisitely detailed works in rock crystal, bronze, and marble. His rock crystal carvings for the Certosa di Pavia and other commissions demonstrate extraordinary technical skill.
Fontana also created the marble facade relief of the Assumption for Santa Maria presso San Celso in Milan, one of the most important late Renaissance sculptural programs in Lombardy.
