Edward Clark Potter (1857-1923) was an American sculptor who specialized in equestrian monuments and animal sculpture. He studied under Daniel Chester French and frequently collaborated with him. Potter often sculpted the horse while French carved the rider.
His most famous works are the two marble lions flanking the entrance to the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue, installed in 1911 and affectionately named "Patience" and "Fortitude" by Mayor La Guardia.
