Filippo Parodi (1630-1702) was a Genoese Baroque sculptor who studied under Bernini in Rome before returning to become the leading sculptor in Genoa. His carved marble and wood figures bring Roman Baroque dynamism to Ligurian churches.
Parodi's works in Genoa's churches, including Santa Maria di Carignano and the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato, demonstrate technical virtuosity and dramatic expression learned from Bernini's workshop.
