
Giovanni Maria Benzoni (1809-1873) was an Italian Neoclassical sculptor from Bergamo who maintained a successful studio in Rome. He specialized in sentimental marble groups and portrait busts popular with international tourists and collectors.
His Love and Innocence and religious subjects were widely reproduced. Benzoni's studio on the Via Margutta was a regular stop on the Grand Tour circuit.
