Jan Jozeph Jaquet (1822-1898) was a Belgian sculptor who worked in the academic tradition, producing portrait busts, public monuments, and decorative architectural sculpture. Based in Brussels, he contributed to the sculptural decoration of several major Belgian buildings and public spaces during the height of 19th-century Belgian nation-building.
Jaquet's work reflects the solid craftsmanship and classical orientation of Belgian academic sculpture. He created figures for public buildings and contributed to the sculptural programs that adorned Brussels' expanding civic architecture during the reign of Leopold II.
