Judy Chicago (born 1939) is an American feminist artist, author, and educator whose work addresses women's roles in history and culture. Born Judith Sylvia Cohen in Chicago, she studied at UCLA and became a pioneering figure in the feminist art movement of the 1970s.
Her most famous work, The Dinner Party (1974-79), is a monumental installation featuring a triangular table set with 39 elaborately crafted place settings honoring women throughout history, from ancient goddesses to Georgia O'Keeffe. The piece, which involved over 400 collaborators, is permanently installed at the Brooklyn Museum. Chicago also established the first feminist art education program at Fresno State College.
