Mino da Fiesole (1429-1484) was a Florentine sculptor of the Early Renaissance known for his portrait busts and church furnishings. Born in Poppi, Tuscany, he trained in Florence (possibly under Desiderio da Settignano) and spent time working in Rome, where he carved tombs and altars for several churches.
Mino's marble portrait busts are among the earliest Renaissance examples of the form, depicting Florentine citizens with crisp detail and dignified composure. He carved a notable bust of Piero de' Medici and several other members of Florence's ruling families. His funerary monuments in the Badia Fiorentina and Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome show a refined but slightly formulaic classical style.
