The Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College in Ohio, founded in 1917, holds over 15,000 objects and is considered one of the top university art museums in the country. The Italian Renaissance-style building was designed by Cass Gilbert.
The collection covers art from ancient Egypt through the present, with strengths in European and American painting, Japanese woodblock prints, and contemporary art. The museum is also home to a Frank Lloyd Wright house (the Weltzheimer/Johnson House) on the Oberlin campus, open for tours. A $25 million renovation in 2011 updated the facilities.
