The Leiden Collection is a private holding of Dutch Golden Age paintings assembled by American financier Thomas S. Kaplan and his wife Daphne Recanati Kaplan since 2003. Named after Rembrandt's birthplace, it's one of the most significant private collections of 17th-century Dutch art formed in the last century.
Over 250 works include 11 paintings by Rembrandt, alongside works by Jan Lievens, Gerard Dou, and other Leiden "fijnschilders" (fine painters). The collection loans extensively to international museums and maintains no permanent exhibition space, functioning instead as a traveling exhibition and scholarly resource.
