by Claude Monet
Claude Monet captured a gardener's house amid the lush vegetation of Bordighera. Tropical plants and palm trees surround the modest building, painted in the brilliant light of the Italian Riviera. The scene glows with Mediterranean warmth.
Monet made dozens of paintings during his Bordighera stay. Each explored different effects of light and color in this unfamiliar landscape. The work hangs at the Art Institute of Chicago.
