This painting by Edward Burne-Jones scene from English legend showing the confrontation between Queen Eleanor and Fair Rosamond, mistress of King Henry II. The composition captures the dramatic tension with Pre-Raphaelite color and detail.
The legend tells of Eleanor discovering Rosamond's hiding place and forcing her to choose between poison and a dagger. Burne-Jones brings medieval romance to life. It hangs at the Yale Center for British Art.
