by Frédéric Bazille, 1867
Circa 1867, Frédéric Bazille painted this outdoor portrait of his family gathered on a terrace at their estate near Montpellier. The composition captures bourgeois leisure with the natural light and informal arrangement that anticipated Impressionism.
Bazille was a promising young painter who died in the Franco-Prussian War at age 28. His work bridges Realism and Impressionism. It hangs at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
Luxury wall art with the same mood and energy. Gallery-quality canvas, no museum crowds.
