Georges Seurat completed this serene landscape of the countryside near Paris using his Pointillist technique. Small dots of pure color build the composition, creating shimmering atmospheric effects. The ordered geometry of fields and trees reflects Seurat's scientific approach to color and light.
Seurat developed Pointillism (also called Neo-Impressionism), applying color theory systematically. His Post-Impressionist technique created harmonious, contemplative views of rural France. Now at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux.
