John Everett Millais was a founding member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, known for his detailed paintings of beautiful women. His works from the 1850s and 1860s showcase brilliant colors and minute detail characteristic of the movement's early phase.
Millais became famous for paintings like Ophelia and The Blind Girl, which demonstrate his ability to capture both natural settings and emotional depth. His portraits of women became particularly popular, combining technical precision with romantic sensibility. As a child prodigy, he entered the Royal Academy Schools at just eleven years old, the youngest student ever admitted.
