Michelangelo made this crucifixion drawing as part of his religious works. The Renaissance master was as skilled in drawing as in sculpture and painting. His anatomical knowledge informed all his depictions of the human body.
Michelangelo returned to the crucifixion theme throughout his long career. This drawing is held at Casa Buonarroti in Florence.
