Chinesco is a style of ancient ceramic figure from the Shaft Tomb tradition of western Mexico (c. 300 BCE-400 CE). Chinesco figures, particularly the so-called "pretty ladies," are characterized by rounded bodies, slanted eyes, and smooth surfaces. They were placed in deep shaft tombs as funerary offerings.
