The Doccia Porcelain Factory was founded in 1737 by Marchese Carlo Ginori near Florence, making it one of Italy's oldest porcelain manufacturers. It produced white and decorated porcelain figures, tableware, and copies of classical sculptures. The factory became Ginori-Richard in 1896. Its early production includes distinctive gray-toned porcelain figures copied from ancient and Baroque models.
