Jaume Plensa (born 1955) is a Spanish sculptor based in Barcelona known for large-scale public works that explore the human form, language, and light. His Crown Fountain (2004) in Chicago's Millennium Park features two 50-foot glass-block towers projecting video portraits of Chicago residents onto LED screens, with water cascading down the faces.
Plensa's translucent mesh heads and seated figures, made from white resin, stainless steel, or cast iron letters, appear in public spaces from Tokyo to Montreal. His work balances monumental scale with an ethereal lightness, often incorporating poetry, music, and multiple languages into the sculptural form.
