Jeff Koons (born 1955) is an American artist best known for his mirror-polished stainless steel sculptures of everyday objects. Born in York, Pennsylvania, he worked as a Wall Street commodities broker in the early 1980s before devoting himself to art full-time. His work celebrates and critiques consumer culture with a deadpan sincerity that divides critics.
Koons' Balloon Dog (Orange) sold for $58.4 million in 2013, and his Rabbit fetched $91.1 million in 2019, a record for a living artist at the time. His large-scale public sculptures, including Puppy (a 40-foot flower-covered West Highland terrier), have become landmarks. Our collection includes 3 works at museums including The Broad in Los Angeles.
