
Manuel Tolsá (1757-1816) was a Spanish-born architect and sculptor who became the leading Neoclassical artist in colonial Mexico. His equestrian statue of Charles IV in Mexico City, known as "El Caballito," is one of the finest bronze equestrian monuments in the Americas.
