Italian painter Bernardino Luini painted this image of Christ bearing the cross. The Milanese painter followed the style of Leonardo da Vinci, with soft modeling and gentle expressions. His religious works have a tender, devotional quality.
Luini was one of the most successful painters in Renaissance Milan. This painting is held at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
