Hieronymus Bosch completed this unusual image of the Christ child learning to walk with a wooden frame. The domestic subject is rare in religious art, showing the infant Jesus in a moment of ordinary childhood development.
Bosch is better known for fantastic visions, but this tender image reveals another side of his imagination. It hangs at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
