Rembrandt van Rijn completed this etching depicting Christ's encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well, set among ancient ruins. The composition uses Rembrandt's masterful line work to create atmosphere and depth.
Rembrandt produced nearly 300 etchings on biblical and secular subjects. His prints were collected throughout Europe. This work is at the Art Institute of Chicago.
