Full Length Portrait of a Standing Man

Rembrandt van Rijn rendered this full-length portrait with characteristic dramatic lighting and psychological presence. The standing figure emerges from shadow with dignified bearing.

Rembrandt's full-length portraits were less common than his half-length works but equally powerful. It hangs at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
