Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh painted this view of a canal during his time in the Netherlands. Water reflects the sky while boats and buildings line the banks. The work shows van Gogh's early style before his colorful French period.
This painting was once at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston until its theft in 1990. Its whereabouts remain unknown.
