Mario Korbel (1882-1954) was a Czech-born American sculptor who specialized in elegant female figures and portrait busts. Born in Osik, Bohemia, he studied in Munich and Prague before immigrating to the United States. He settled in New York and later Chicago, producing refined academic sculptures.
Korbel's figures of women and children display a polished European sensibility. He exhibited widely and won numerous prizes in American art exhibitions.
