The De Morgan Collection preserves the work of Victorian artist couple William De Morgan and Evelyn De Morgan. William was the most important ceramic artist of the Arts and Crafts movement, known for his luster-glazed tiles inspired by Iznik pottery. Evelyn was a painter of allegorical and mythological subjects influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites.
The collection is housed at various venues and managed by the De Morgan Foundation, established in 1968. Evelyn's paintings, with their bold colors and progressive themes (including women's suffrage), have gained renewed appreciation in recent years.
