The Museum of Russian Art in Kyiv, also known as the Tereshchenko Museum, opened on November 12, 1922. It was founded on nationalized private collections, principally the holdings of the wealthy Tereshchenko family. With around 12,000 works, it holds the third-largest collection of Russian art after Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery and Saint Petersburg's Russian Museum.
The collection showcases masterworks by Shishkin, Repin, Kramskoy, and Vasnetsov, housed in an 1880 mansion designed by architects A. Gun and Vladimir Nikolaev. The museum was renamed the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery" in 2017, reflecting Ukraine's cultural independence.

The Museum of Russian Art, also known as the Tereshchenko Museum, houses a collection of Russian painting and decorative arts assembled by the Tereshchenko family of Ukrainian industrialists and donated to Kyiv in 1925.
The museum is located on Tereshchenkivska Street in central Kyiv, Ukraine. The historic building previously housed the Tereshchenko family's private collection before becoming a public museum.
The collection includes Russian Imperial-era paintings, icons, and decorative arts. It features works by prominent Russian artists from the 18th and 19th centuries documenting Russian artistic traditions.
The Tereshchenko family were Ukrainian sugar industrialists and art patrons who assembled one of the finest private collections of Russian art. They donated their collection to the city after the Russian Revolution.
