Camille Pissarro completed this rural scene with the natural light and careful observation characteristic of Impressionism. The farmyard setting reflects his lifelong interest in peasant life and agricultural subjects.
Pissarro was the oldest of the Impressionists and participated in all eight group exhibitions. His rural subjects influenced many younger artists. This work remains in a private collection.
