Konstantin Korovin completed this atmospheric landscape showing travelers on a country road. His characteristic loose brushwork captures the fleeting effects of light on the Russian countryside, with figures rendered as impressions rather than detailed portraits.
Korovin traveled extensively through Russia, painting scenes of rural life and northern landscapes. His work bridged Russian Realism and French Impressionism, bringing Western techniques to traditional Russian subjects. He became influential as both a painter and a teacher at the Moscow School of Painting.
