Blaue Badende

Otto Mueller painted these blue-tinted bathers in his characteristic angular style. The figures blend with their natural surroundings, bodies simplified into essential forms. Mueller was drawn to themes of humans in harmony with nature.

As a member of the German Expressionist group Die Brücke, Mueller developed a distinctive personal vision. His muted palette and elongated figures set him apart from more aggressive colleagues. This work remains in a private collection.
