The Museo Horne in Florence occupies a 15th-century palazzo restored by English art historian Herbert Percy Horne (1864-1916), who spent two decades recreating a Renaissance domestic interior. He bequeathed the building and his collection to the Italian state.
The small museum displays Renaissance paintings, sculpture, and decorative objects as they might have appeared in a 15th-century Florentine household. Giotto's Saint Stephen, Filippino Lippi, and Bernardo Daddi are among the painters represented. Furniture, pottery, coins, and household implements fill out what is essentially a carefully curated period room spread across three floors.
