Paolo Veronese portrays Iseppo da Porto with his son Adriano in this tender double portrait. The father places a protective hand on the boy's shoulder while both gaze outward with quiet dignity.
Veronese was a master of Venetian Renaissance painting, famous for lavish feast scenes and brilliant color. This intimate portrait shows his versatility beyond grand decorative works. The da Porto family were Vicentine nobles. This painting now hangs at the Louvre in Paris.
