Vincent van Gogh made these drawings of English churches during his time working in London. The compositions show his early interest in architecture and religious subjects before he developed his distinctive painting style.
Van Gogh worked as an art dealer and teacher in England before becoming an artist. These early works were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990 and remain missing.
