Dutch artist Gabriel Metsu painted this still life of a dead rooster, displaying the bird's colorful plumage with fine detail. Game still lifes were popular in Dutch Golden Age painting.
Metsu was known for both genre scenes and still lifes. This work is at the Museo del Prado in Madrid.
