Anthony van Dyck executed this scene of Christ being crowned with thorns. The Flemish master depicted the suffering Christ with emotional intensity. Van Dyck studied under Rubens before establishing his own brilliant career.
His religious works show the influence of Italian masters he studied in Italy. This painting hangs at the Museo del Prado in Madrid.
