Chaim Soutine paints figures within a landscape that seems to writhe with energy. His characteristic thick impasto and agitated brushwork give the scene emotional intensity far beyond its simple subject matter.
Soutine's Expressionist style influenced later painters including Willem de Kooning and Francis Bacon. Born in Lithuania, he struggled in poverty in Paris before finding success. The work now hangs at the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris, part of the Walter-Guillaume collection of modern art.
Luxury wall art with the same mood and energy. Gallery-quality canvas, no museum crowds.
