See the original at Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York
by Roy Lichtenstein, 1961
Roy Lichtenstein painted the Girl with Ball in 1961, based on a hotel advertisement in the New York Times. A young woman in a bathing suit holds a beach ball above her head, rendered in the Ben-Day dots of commercial printing.
Lichtenstein enlarged and stylized the throwaway image, transforming commercial art into fine art. The thick black outlines and limited color palette mimic cheap printing processes. This early work established his signature style before he moved to comic book sources. It hangs in MoMA.
Luxury wall art with the same mood and energy. Gallery-quality canvas, no museum crowds.
